Sunday 21st October Today the DZ took over Fright Night at Thorpe Park in Surrey. Arguably the countries finest theme park and the band arrived early and left late with aching and bruised limbs care of rides such as Stealth, Colossus & Nemeses. It was a unananimous agreement that it was the best day out of the year we have had not because of the many rides and abundance of entertainment available to us but because we were in each other company and in absolute hysterics for the entire day. |

Saturday 13th October Tonight we played the well known Portland rock bar in Hove just outside of Brighton. Competing with the Rugby semi final and the local band taking their to Newhaven, we were always going to struggle with a good turnout but those that shared the evening with us so a couple of DZ first. 2 new addition to the set truly instil that DZ are the finest Rock covers band not just in the area but potentially nationwide. What other band can successfully play the complexity of metal anthem Davidian by Machine Head. Wayne has certainly raised the bar by allowing us to attempt these monster tunes taking the band further than they have ever been able to reach before. This combined with the crunching guitar riff in Limp Bizkit's 'Break Stuff', the crowd were duly transfixed on our performance for the evening with each song met with applause and cheers. Thank you to Mark & Tim for organising the sound for the evening and though it was not the customary DZ sound that we have all grown love to over the last 2 years, it was certainly one thing that evening.............LOUD! |

Saturday 29th September Tonight we played our local stomping ground of The Family Tree in Bognor Regis. Their hospitality, sound, stage & lighting is the best on the circuit and always a highlight on the DZ callander. It was a great evening with the crowd cheering raucously after each song and the party continued onto dawn. Rock n Roll!! |

Saturday 18th August Today was a very special day the band have been waiting for a long long time. Paul & Sarah's wedding was a perfect day. The sun shone on the beautiful bride and dashing groom and it was our pleasure to be part of their wonderful celebrations. After the ceremony and delicious food laid on for us, the drink started to flow and the entertainment began. Once again 'the big guy' Mark took control of the sound and first to take stage was Paul's original band called 'GRIN '. After a couple of 90's rock classics including Cameos 'Word Up' Paul's other current band 'Raith' entertained us with some great covers including songs from U2 & The Police. Family and friends settled down and it was time fir DZ to take control. The first 2 songs were learnt especially for the day and they were 'Money For Nothing' by Dire Straits and the brilliant 'White Wedding' by Billy Idol. Next 'All The Small Things' by Blink 82 lead the way for Paul to leave the stage and play in the middle of the hall for his family and loved ones. A great moment. Perhaps not as great as when a few more drinks were consumed and the Village Peoples 'YMCA' was played in the disco and PJ found some bright yellow hard hats at the side of the stage and promptly led Paul & Mike on stage for all the actions. Fortunately no video footage is available of this event. Congratulations to our best friends and thank you for allowing us to be part of your brilliant day! |

Saturday 10th November DZ rocked Portsmouth this evening at the renowned venue of The Admiral Drake. The crowd were warmed up nicely with our openiing set including a first for us with a couple of local lasses dancing away to System Of A Down. The second set is what really seperates DZ from so many other bands as modern rock classics followed another and the crowd genuinely couldn't get enough as the night climaxed with our jaw dropping performance of Freak On A Leash. A performacnce ensuring many more gigs in Pompey next year. |

Friday 16th November Tonight we played another local stomping ground. It has been over 6 months since we played Cheers in Bognor Regis and the Landlady was sure chuffed to have us back. Concerned so much that we might cancel the show, she actually turned her mobile off. As always with Cheers, the first set warms the venue up nicely as more people were turning up as each song passed. What can we say. The 2nd set was just brutal. The crowd were rocking hard which inspired us to probably our best show in years. The Big Guy Mark guested for Killing In The Name of and when asked which song they wanted us to finish in, the unanimous shouts allowed us to unleash the awesome Davidian turning the venue on it's head. A truly superb night! |
Sunday 18th November After the dizzy heights of our last 2 shows. last night at the Family Tree was a welcomed chill out. With close friends as an audience we cruised through our lighter set with aplom. A fantastic sound filled the venue and the after show social into the early hours was great fun. It's been a busy weekend for DZ so we feel we've earnt a break. Our plans are to right a couple more tunes ready for the studio in January and of course we have our Xmas Eve Party to look forward to. |

Monday 3rd December Well it's good news bad news time in the DZ camp. Let's get the bad news out the way first being that due to unforeseen commitments for PJ, we are unable to make the scheduled Xmas Eve party at The Family Tree in Bognor. A huge disappointment for everyone and we are currently frantically trying to find an alternative date so we can have one more night of DZ mayhem prior to Xmas. On the upside we have a huge Dropzone first. We have just completed our new promo video for our first self penned track So Long. Hop over to the video section like so many have done already and soak up the energy. We are all very proud of the way the video turned out and it certainly bodes well for 2008. |

Monday 24th December Another year for DZ has flown by. The band is growing stronger by the month as more original tunes develop and the bar continually raising with new covers making their way into the set. Songs that genuinely separate DZ from so many other rock cover bands from artists such as Korn & Machine Head. Who knows what 2008 will have on hold but we are sure as keen as hell to find out. Merry Christmas folks. See you in the New Year |

Sunday 3rd February Last night was our first show of 2008 as a newer DZ with 'No Comprimise'. A more edgier set with the lighter side taking a backseat for the time being. The place was The Swan in Crawley and the time was 9.30pm when we unleashed the first of the two sets to a hugely receptive crowd which clearly loved there tunes loud. As each song passed, the bar area got busier and busier and by the start of the second set, space was at a premium with people falling into the stage area in the melee of rocking it out to our performance. This is the first time we have played the Swan for over a year as we felt that it lost it's way slightly but the break away certainly done the place world of good as last night was certainly Dropzones finest show at the venue. What was something to behold was when we started to play the first of our own songs of the evening 'Weeping Sore' The grinding riff bought all the rockers forward for unison head shaking and the general euphoria created an atmosphere that was quite awe inspiring. Happy days! Next stop Bognor Regis. |

Saturday 9th February Another fantastic evening was had by all at Cheers in Bognor Regis last night. A first for Dropzone was to give some of their performance time to an up and coming local band Aceville. It was wonderful to see these young lads with so much enthusiasm and energy in their performance warm the crowd up nicely with Van Halen, The Hives and some of their own compositions. Good luck to you guys! For us the evening was a yet another blinder. Just having the 75 mins meant that we really had to cram as much 'zone' into the shorter set as we possibly could. Every single song was a winner with the packed crowd and somehow we even managed to squeeze time to get the 'big guy' up for number. Once again, both our own tunes were met with a wonderful reception (all being well, we should be gigging a third by March) and the plaudits after the show surely did let us know that our huge efforts that we put into our performance was appreciated. |

Monday 10th March Firstly apologies for the disappointment of the recent cancellation of our scheduled show in Eastbourne. Family illness for Mike quite rightly took priority. Our best wishes go out to Mike and those that are close to him in this difficult time. We do plan to be back in Eastbourne as soon as possible. On a positive note, we will be supporting the mighty Tygers Of Pan Tang on the 20th April at the legendary Freebuttt in Brighton. For tickets please e mail us here, A further self penned tune is now under our belt so next time you see us you will have the pleasure of being ripped in half by 'Cleanse'. Bar far our most challenging song to date and we can't wait to share it with you. We expect to have all of our new material on CD in the next 2 months so expect a new ep in your face shortly. |

Sunday 23rd March Another great night yesterday at he Admiral Drake in Portsmouth. Though very appreciative and full of plaudits after the show, there was little less activity and energy than usual thus PJ felt compelled to take his frustrations out on the band microphone stands. Very rock n roll! And yes, we will have a full version of Slipknots Duality when we return and maybe a bit more? Watch this space guys and gals. |

Saturday 5th April A satisfactory evening tonight at The Swan in Crawley. Certainly not the buzz that we experienced last time we were there but it was ceratinly good fun running through yet more new numbers. |
Sunday 20th April Tonight we opened the bill for rock legends The Tygers Of Pan Tang. Playing a 30 minute set containg 3 original numbers was huge experience for us and it was a joy to hear our own riffs belting out of the enormous PA at Freebutts in Brighton. |
Saturday 7th June Well, it's been a while sine our last blog and 3 further gigs have passed us by. 2 in Bognor and an un-scheduled show in Portsmouth last night. Each gig was very successful in there own ways with the highlight being the pogo-ing to the Proclaimers last night. Good times! We are constantly busy writing new material which has to be said is the priority for us at the moment and look out for a festival appearance in the next couple of moths. watch this space. Apologies but our first run of DZ hoodies have sold out. If you would like one, please drop us an e mail and we will contact you as soon as they are back in stock. More photos are viewable in the 'pics' section. |

Saturday 13th July It's been a very busy last few weeks for DZ and we have lots of news and reviews to catch up with. Firstly festivals. DZ are scheduled to play 2 so far this summer. The first is 'Drakefest' in Portsmouth on Saturday 19th July. Many bands will be taking the outdoor stage at the Admiral Drake from 2pm and we are honoured to be the final act to play before the headlining Pink Floyd tribute. We will be playing an hour set of monster rockin' tunes from 8.30pm. Our second festival will be the famous Rox event in Bognor Regis. The date of this hugely well supported event will be Saturday 2nd August and we will be playing the main stage @ 5.30pm and we promise the locals an awesome set of the finest festival rock songs. Another venue confirmed that will be frequenting again is the Royal Oak in Southampton. This is scheduled for later in the year and we look forward to entertaining Suzie & Alan's locals. A couple of brief reviews. Friday night we played a very well organised Bikers Rally in Wisborough Green. Aceville opened the proceedings and by the time we took the stage the crowd were very much up for a party. As each song concluded the crowd were dancing and singing along culminating to dancing on the tables on the final tune of the night. Cash was raised for charity as we auctioned off the chance of singing 3 songs with us and as the camera flash bulbs went crazy, the bikers took turns in singing their fav song and thus the evening was declared a massive success. We have a good feeling we will be back there next year. Tonight we were the live entertainment at a splendid wedding in Midhurst. The Bride looked stunning and the groom was very dapper as we entertained their guests with our popular rock set. The Dance floor was never empty and by the time we reached the last few songs of the night, space on the dance floor was an absolute premium. Great fun and we are delighted the evening turned out to be such a huge success and all at DZ wish the happy couple a delightful life together. As we say, very busy times at the mo and hopefully we will see some of you at Crawley this Friday and then we have 'Drakefest' which is gonna be a blast! |

Sunday 20th July Another busy weekend for DZ with 2 shows in 2 days. The first was at the old tough nut to crack of The Swan in Crawley. It was often said that if things are not thrown at you or you are not thrown out yourself then the locals really have enjoyed your show. Well after a steady first set with the complexity of using a new pa that a joker decided to adjust at half time without us knowing (thanks to The Big Guy for noticing the 2 knobs altered on the back of the speakers) the second set was thus slightly delayed but worth waiting for. The locals eventually let their barriers down and were completely taken by our tunes but the cheers for more and encore were all a little bit too late as our set was complete. Not a bad night at all. Saturday we were the penultimate band before the headlining Pink Floyd Tribute at 'Drakefest'. A charity outdoor festival held at the Admiral Drake in Portsmouth containing over 20 acts over the 2 days. Our one hour set could not have been played any better as the crowd acknowledged the change in calibre form the rest of the days entertainment once we took the stage. A perfect warm up for the main event though for us though the Burlesque girls who were on earlier were our headlining act. A couple of weeks off now then it's off to The Rox festival in Bognor Regis. |

Sunday 3rd August The date was the Saturday 2nd August and the time was 6.30pm. DZ took the stage at the Rox Festival on Bognor Regis sea front and little did we know how significant this show would be to us. From the moment our intro to O’ Fortuna had finished, people already new that something different, perhaps even special was in the making. The crowd got to there feet quickly and packed the front of the stage area as Paul belted out the awesome opening riff to ‘Beat It’ to kick off our 30 minutes. From that moment on we were exactly what the 1500 strong crowd were longing for. From ‘Song 2’ to ‘In The End’ to then be followed by a little medley of ‘Take A Look Around’ and ‘Zombie’, the applause and appreciation after each song took our breath away as the festival soaked up everything DZ could give to it. Our set was wrapped up with ‘I Predict A Riot’ and ‘500 Miles’ by the Proclaimers and by the end of the show the venue was heaving with it’s own mosh pit and frenzied dancing on a balmy afternoon. A huge thank you goes out to Matt from Portmouth rockers 'Stolen Good's. An awesome drummer who stepped in for Wayne who was away on a family break. He rose to the challange and played a flawless pounding rhythmn though out our set! We would also like to thank the people that stopped us and complemented us on how much they enjoyed our set and for one guy who shouted out the name of one of our own songs (that we haven’t even recorded yet) well, he was the man! More thanks go out to Steve, Terry and all of their crew who break their backs to put on this free festival. We owe this experience to these volunteers who are ultimately the heroes of the event after making so many people happy over the weekend. |

Sunday 10th August Well it's been a week since our success at the Rox festival and here is just one quote from a local publication who reviewd our performance Dropzone once again delivered a note perfect fusillade of classic rock which took the main stage into the early evening .............. Images of our Rox performance are now within the pics section of the website and do expect audio clips from the show very shortly. |

Saturday 16th August Last night we rocked out at the old favourite The Family Tree in Bognor Regis. It was great to see so many new faces and refreshing to see this awesome live music venue being so well supported. Dropzone went interactive within the second set taking requests so the planned lighter side of our tunes took a favourable turn care of the great taste of the crowd. A few ales were drunk and all in all it was a cracking evening. Now we take a little break from performing live until our next show at the legendary Firehouse in Southampton on September 27th but that doesn't mean the DZ machine grinds to a halt. We will be recording 'Weeping Sore' and 'Cleanse' mid September so expect some free downloads very shortly. As well as this we are re-working on 'So Long' acoustically enabling us to air our compositions on the local Radio so watch this space with regards to that. On the subject of acoustic tunes, next time you see us we are going to have an awesome Stone Sour tune on board. This you will not want to miss. |
Wednesday 20th August Today we have been invited to perform a live acoustic session on The Usigned Show hosted by Milly Luford on Spririt FM. Our acoustic songs will be recorded live on Monday 8th and broadcasted along with an interview on Friday 12th within her show at lunch time. We are currently re-working So Long and also another acoustic track which we will keep as a surpise for the moment but we sure know you want want to miss it. |
